From “Fearless” to “Speak Now” to “Red” to “1989” to “Reputation,” these landmark Taylor Swift albums somehow don’t belong to the artist.
After music producer Scooter Braun purchased her masters without her blessings, Swift lost the rights to her first six albums. These were the defining albums of her career. Through them, she moves from country to pop to hip hop to indie.
Swift is very much known for growing up in the industry. Her music has grown and evolved right alongside her.
So, it only makes sense that it didn’t sit well with Swift to lose the parts of her career that started it all. Since it has been announced that her masters were sold, Swift has told her fans that she is re-recording her older albums.
Swift Starts Re-Recording
She announced on social media, “I have recently begun re-recording my older music and it has already proven to be both exciting and creatively fulfilling … I have plenty of surprises in store. I want to thank you guys for supporting me through this ongoing saga, and I can’t wait for you to hear what I’ve been dreaming up.”
Since Swift has come a long way since her soft, sweet songs in albums like “Fearless,” fans are excited about what these re-recordings can be like now that her voice is more matured.
It is causing fans to romanticize about their favorite old Swift song being out in 2021. She revealed, “Love Story” has been her favorite so far.
Swift looks forward to the challenge of bringing new light into some of her oldest work.
“The older music, my voice was so teenaged and I sometimes, when I hear my older music and my older young teenage voice, it makes me feel like I’m a different singer now. And so, it’s been the most fun to re-record ones that I feel like I could actually, possibly improve upon the song. That’s been a really amazing and fun adventure,” Swift tells Entertainment Weekly.
Right now, even as she re-records, Swift is setting records. She is currently the seventh-most nominated female artist in Grammys history.
Mysterious Co-Writer Revealed
Many fans were curious about exactly who the mysterious co-writer and collaborator for “folklore” was. The name William Bowery was listed.
She revealed in her film “folklore: the long pond sessions” that this is actually her long-term boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
“She went on to explain that she and Alwyn started their musical collaboration after she heard him sing the chorus of her song ‘betty,’ prompting her to ask him about writing a song together. The special circumstances of quarantine seem to have benefited them,” according to Vanity Fair.
Her boyfriend helped to write the piano part in “exile” as well.
