Ahead of the 2020 CMA Country Christmas, Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins chatted about all things Christmas.
What Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins Had to Say
When it comes to all things holiday season, Akins is the pro. “Who’s better at Christmas? It would definitely be Lauren,” Rhett admitted. “Christmas is Lauren’s favorite time of the year and mine but Lauren goes all out 100%,” Rhett added.
“It definitely has been a challenging year for everybody,” Rhett said. “This is the first year that I’ve been home, off the road, all year. It’s going to be awesome. To also get to be home for Christmas morning and to watch my girls walk down the stairs. For us, we’re just excited to spend time with our family. This year, I’ve gotten to spend more time with my girls and wife than I ever have. So I think Christmas will be a huge cherry on top for so much quality time.”

This event marks the first time that the husband and wife duo will be hosting side by side. Rhett previously hosted the CMA Fest televised special alongside Kelsea Ballerini. “It’s my first time hosting anything,” Akins admitted. “So a lot of retakes but a lot of fun. I’m excited!”
“My favorite part so far is getting to do something in the most magical space,” Akins said. “Everything is decked out, it’s like Christmas just threw up all in this place. It’s my dream come true.”
The 2020 CMA Country Christmas special airs at 8 PM CT on November 30 on ABC. Along with his co-hosting duties, Rhett will also be performing his original song, “Christmas In The Country.” The song was inspired by their real holidays past that they spend out on their farm. They put a big Christmas tree in their barn. Rhett says that the song has been autobiographical.
