Thomas Rhett has dropped his latest single “What’s Your Country Song” in the early hours of Nov. 11. The singer revealed the new country music anthem via Instagram. He also teased an upcoming music video, which will release on Friday, Nov. 13.

He captioned the post, “This year has taught us all how to slow down. It’s reminded us of our roots. And has shifted our perspectives. A lot has changed but a lot has come full circle for me and my music. Excited to share ‘What’s Your Country Song’ – the first single off the next record – out everywhere now at link in bio.”

Thoma Rhett References Country Classics

Rhett included a sneak peek at the upcoming music video. The video features clips of Rhett playing at concerts with thousands of fans versus walking in a cornfield and through nature. Rhett narrates the clip, saying, “So much of life is spent looking forward-thinking about what’s next. This year has forced me to slow down. It’s forced us all to slow down. A change of pace, a change of perspective. If you love country music like I do then you know exactly what I’m talking about.”

The singer has been teasing the song for some time. Rhett’s new single is an ode to country music itself, features various references to other classic songs. Garth Brooks, Hank Williams Jr., Merle Haggard, and George Strait are among the various country singers that Rhett refers to. The singer incorporates song titles into the lyrics to the song, weaving a tapestry of country’s past and present.

Fans Reacted to Thomas Rhett’s Newest Single

So, far fans seem to be loving Rhett’s newest song. On Instagram, fans filled the comments with various heart emojis and “love you’s” for instance. On Youtube, the comments continue to roll in as fans share their thoughts on the single. One person wrote, “I love how he adds a bunch of old country song titles in the lyrics of this one. So fitting with the theme of the song.”
