Tonight marks the 54th edition of the Country Music Association Awards hosted by Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker. One of the performers and award presenters will be Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren Akins. Rhett is set to perform his song “Be A Light” tonight with Reba McEntire, Hillary Scott, and Chris Tomlin. Lauren Akins will present an award after her husband performs.

Rhett and Akins, who married one another in October of 2012, expressed their excitement about attending the CMA Awards. “We get to get out and watch live music for the first time this year and get to work together, which [we’ve] never gotten to do in the past,” Thomas Rhett told People. The pair also expressed their appreciation about going on a date.

“We’ve tried to do date nights this year, but they always consist of us going to the basement and watching a show together and then coming back up and doing our kids,” Rhett said. The couple has three kids, Willa Gray, Ada James, and Lennon Love. Lauren Akins gave birth to the youngest, Lennon Love, on February 10 of this year.

What A Date Night For Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins

Due to coronavirus, Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins remained couped up in their home during the quarantine. What better way to get out than attending the CMA Awards? The star-studded lineup includes Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, and Kelsea Ballerini among others.

Despite being remote for the most part, many of the country stars will attend in house. The event occurs at the Music Center in Nashville Tennessee. The event will air on ABC at 8:00 eastern time Tune in to watch country music stars from across the country (and across the world considering Keith Urban’s performance from Australia) perform, laugh, and have a good time.
