Tim McGraw Details His Intense Workout Regimen

Tim McGraw told fans just how intense his workouts are.

The country crooner spoke with Big Machine Label Group about his current workout routine. When he’s home in the mornings he works out for about an hour and a half. While touring it’s even more intense, as he does an hour and a half of work then complete even more strenuous exercises. The idea behind it is to make his concerts a breeze for him physically since they are typically two hours long.

“Then we do 20 laps up and down the lawn carrying weight,” he explained. “And then it’s a break, and then it’s two hours in the afternoon, so it’s a long time. But you know, touring, our shows a two-hour show that’s pretty high energy. “

McGraw has enlisted the help from both his touring mates and professional trainers.

“And I learned from my coach early on, Coach Butler, he used to tell us all the time, practice has to be harder than work,” he added.

“You know, practice has to be harder than the game. So, I live by that philosophy when it’s touring. Like you work really hard all day long, and by the time you hit the show, then you’ve got two hours of doing a show, then it’s fun and easy.”

The Lifestyle of Tim McGraw

The 2008 film Four Christmases made Tim McGraw re-evaluate his health. His daughter Gracie mentioned to him that he looked big on the screen. At that point, he was 215 pounds.

“I was in the prime of my career, and I wasn’t capitalizing on it,” he admitted to Men’s Health Magazine. He then decided to take up walking on a daily basis and stop drinking alcohol and consuming fast food.

Although his workout plans are beyond average, he does not want to slow down. “I don’t really get tired of training,” he told the outlet.”There’s such a feeling of accomplishment that comes from the feeling of being my age and still being at the top of my game.”

His love for working out extendings into his mental health.

“Most things in this business are out of your control,” he shared. “What the radio is going to play, how many records you’re going to sell. Control the things you can, and maybe that helps.”

After his workout session, he feels more energized than when he started. “This workout is my meditation,” he added. “It frees things up in your head so you can get the trash out for a little while.”
