Tim McGraw Reveals Behind The Scenes Look Ahead of New Record Release Tonight

Country star Tim McGraw is teasing his new record, “McGraw Machine Hits: 2013-2019,” which comes out tomorrow.

“Thanks to @midlandofficial for jumping on board for this one!” McGraw tweeted Thursday. “Turn up ‘Redneck Girl’ and get ready for the full Hits record dropping at MIDNIGHT tonight! #McGrawMachineHits”

McGraw Offers Behind-the-Scenes Peek

In the accompanying video, McGraw offers a behind-the-scenes look at his new record, which features a bonus duet titled “Redneck Girl.”

“It’s a Bellamy Brothers song,” McGraw says of the song. “It was a huge song when I was a teenager. I mean, loved that song, over and over. And I played it in clubs for years.”

“Oddly enough, Lance Miller, a friend of mine, was the person who suggested that I do a cover of that song,” he explains. “And I thought, you know, that’s a really good idea. Because we would go on our spearfishing trips… and we’d sit around and play songs all the time, and that was one of the songs we would always play and sing all the time.”

Duet With Midland

McGraw collaborated with the country music band Midland on “Redneck Girl.” They decided to include the song on McGraw’s new record because, well, when else?

“When we knew we were gonna do the tour, we thought, what a great idea to have Midland sing on it with us,” McGraw says. “And they did a great job and really took the song to another level. So we figured, you know, gosh, we might not ever get to use it. And this is the best opportunity to use it.”

As for the Bellamy Brothers, they’re thrilled with the cover.

“I was drinking my coffee this morning when I stumbled across this new track by Tim and Midland,” David Bellamy said, according to Broadway World. “It sounded familiar! We’ve known Tim for years and we’re big fans of him and Midland. Tim and those guys are real stylists and they infused the song with a shot of energy and refreshing production. Great job guys.”
