Music icon Tim McGraw honors his father in throwback post before Game 6 of the World Series.

Tim McGraw is worth the follow on Instagram. He strikes again by sharing a video of his dad, Tug McGraw, striking out Willie Wilson 40 years ago in game 6 of the World Series.

“Here’s a throwback in honor of tonight’s game.. 40 years ago @thetugmcgraw striking out Willie Wilson in game 6 of the 1980 #WorldSeries #YaGottaBelieve

The video shows Tug McGraw delivering the final out of the 1980 World Series. He’s playing for the Philadelphia Phillies and with this championship helps them end a 97-year drought. Once the pitch is caught, Tug McGraw is met with a roaring crowd and a celebration from his teammates.

This country superstar has shared videos of his late father before. Also, he’s actually quite accustomed to going viral on social media. McGraw can be seen sporting a mullet in another one of his throwback posts.

Tim McGraw Loves His Family

McGraw admits from time to time he gets emotional. As a matter of fact, it happened recently when it came to his number one single, “I Called Mama.” It’s a song that he fell in love with as soon as he heard it on the work tape demo.

He tries to play it for his wife of 24 years, Faith Hill, but keeps getting choked up. The theme of the song is about getting the hard phone calls in life. He’s been reflecting on things that matter most to him, and the relationship between sons and mothers.
