Country star Toby Keith has raised a huge amount of money for the families of kids in Oklahoma City-area hospitals. The singer-songwriter just announced that his Golf Classic brought in a whopping $1.4 million for charity.

“This year’s Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic raised $1.4 million for the @TK_Foundation! @ClayWalker,” Keith tweeted Tuesday.

Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic Raises Millions

Keith’s Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic took a year-long hiatus due to the pandemic. But this June 11 and 12, it was back and better than ever. The event raised $1.427 million for the OK Kids Korral, a free space for families of children in Oklahoma City-area hospitals to stay. That was the second-highest amount in the golf tournament’s 17-year history.

Over the course of its tenure, the Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic has raised more than $15 million for charity, according to Music Row.

The Ace Hardware team won the morning round of the tournament. The afternoon round went to Tier 1 Contracting.

As for the bids, the largest one came in at $100,000 for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am experience. The winner gets to stroll through the course with Keith during the tournament. Another pricey bid was the $62,000 for two spots in the 2021 Lexus Champions for Charity tournament. Then there was the $50,000 for a signed electric guitar from Fleetwood Mac. And someone paid $30,000 for a trip to Iceland.

Meanwhile, Show Dog Nashville recording artist Clay Walker performed along with Keith at the event.

Keith to Receive Merle Haggard Spirit Award

Meanwhile, when he’s not busy with the Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic, Keith has been releasing new music, going on tour and winning awards. The Academy of Country Music recently revealed that it will honor Keith with the Merle Haggard Spirit Award at the 14th Annual ACM Honors on Aug. 25 in Nashville. The award recognizes performers who are following in Haggard’s footsteps as a musical storyteller. Previous award winners include Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley.

Keith joined the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015. He received the National Medal of Arts earlier this year. And he has been nominated to be inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Keith’s Country Comes to Town Tour got back into gear in Prescott, Arizona on June 20. It runs through Dec. 3 and spans venues from Arizona to Oregon, Florida to New York, and plenty of states in the middle.
