Trace Adkins Announces Season 3 Premiere Date for ‘Ultimate Cowboy Showdown’

On Thursday, country star Trace Adkins revealed that his competition series Ultimate Cowboy Showdown will return for Season 3 next year.

The country singer is the host of the INSP channel’s first competition television series. According to the show’s website, last season 14 competitors headed to a Texas ranch “to prove they can out-cowboy the competition.” The contestants faced a tough set of challenges each episode, which Adkins and other experts judge. Each week a competitor is knocked off the show and sent packing. In the end, only one true cowboy will remain as the Ultimate Cowboy Showdown victor.

Trace Adkins will return as the host of the popular cowboy competition series. There’s no word yet on when Season 3 will air, but we know fans can expect the new season to release sometime in 2022.

“Saddle up! Season 3 of Ultimate @cowboyshowdown is coming in 2022!” Trace Adkins wrote on Instagram.

Trace Adkins Thinks His Singing and Performing are ‘Better’ Than Ever

The country musician has been a busy man in recent history working on multiple projects. Most recently, Trace Adkins celebrated the 25th anniversary of his debut album Dreamin’ Out Loud with the release of a brand new 25-song album.

During a recent interview, the country star spoke about his newest album while claiming that he’s better than ever as a musical artist. Adkins talked with PEOPLE about his newly released album The Way I Wanna Go, which released on August 27. The Way I Wanna Go is an extensive celebration of Adkins’ 25-year career.

The Louisiana native is a veteran in the music business. He’s sold more than 11 million records during his lengthy career. While speaking to PEOPLE, the 59-year-old says his age hasn’t slowed him down. In fact, Adkins says his singing and performing have improved through the years.

“I still have the range that I have always had, but I think my lower range has gotten better,” Trace Adkins told PEOPLE. “But that just comes with age, you know? But I mean, yeah, I haven’t lost anything. My chops are still good.”

“It’s a shame in a way,” he added. “You get to this point of your career where you’re better at your craft than you’ve ever been, and nobody gives a…”

The Way I Wanna Go is jam-packed with featured guest artists that include some surprising collaborations. Out of the 25-track album, there’s many highlights. However, one standout is “Love Walks Through the Rain,” which features Melissa Etheridge.

“When I heard the vocal on that song, I was like ‘Oh my God, that’s Melissa,’” Adkins told PEOPLE of the collaboration. “She still sounds so amazing.”

In addition, he worked with country star Luke Bryan and Latin-American rapper Pitbull on the single “Where the Country Girls At.” If Pitbull seems like a surprise collab, legendary West Coast rapper Snoop Dogg‘s appearance on the album is equally head-turning.

Yet the cross-genre collaborations don’t end there. Adkins’ new album also features iconic singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder playing harmonica on “Memory to Memphis,” which also features blues legend Keb’ Mo’.
