Trace Adkins is back with a pair of brand new videos. He dropped the videos earlier today. One video is for his single “Heartbreak Song,” and it’s a solid release. However, the more notable and timely of the two is “Empty Chair.” The track and its video honor fallen veterans.

Memorial Day weekend is upon us. People across the country are gearing up for barbecues, get-togethers, and sales. However, others are preparing to make the trek to their local National Cemetery to honor their fallen loved ones. Trace Adkins’ new song is something more fitting for that crowd.

Fans know Trace Adkins for two things. First, he’s a hit-making machine. He’s been topping the charts since the late 90s. At the same time, he proudly supports the United States Armed Forces. This one ticks both of those boxes. It’ll be a crying shame if “Empty Chair,” doesn’t top the charts. At the same time, it’s a beautiful tribute to those who never made it home.

Trace Adkins’ Touching Tribute To The Troops

Trace Adkins’ new track is a great tribute to the troops. At the same time, it’s a solid story song. The narrative revolves around a handful of old veterans. From time to time, they get together at the local diner to catch up. They laugh, joke, and just enjoy the company of their brothers. However, they always have an empty chair for those who didn’t make it back.

The song talks vaguely about the horrors that those men saw. At the same time, it shows them as all-around good guys. There’s a good chance you know one or two of those guys. They saw hell somewhere overseas. But, you’d never know it by their laid-back demeanor and easy smile.

The video takes the whole thing up a notch. It would have been easy for Trace Adkins to get rent out a diner and get some older guys to play the parts of the vets in the song. However, he went a completely different route. The video is a slideshow of photographs of fallen soldiers. The photos are surrounded by candles. As each new image fades in so too do the fallen vet’s name and rank. It’s a simple video. However, sometimes it’s the simple things that really tug at your heartstrings.

So, get a tissue or two, crank up the volume, and check out Trace Adkins’ video for “Empty Chair.”

Keep this song and the veterans it is about in your thoughts as you go through this long weekend. If you get a chance, thank a veteran. Shake their hand. Hell, buy them a beer or cup of coffee if you can. It’s the least we can do. So many gave so much more than we can ever repay.
