Country singer Travis Tritt shared an epic throwback picture of Willie Nelson’s 60th birthday bash.

A number of country legends are gracing the stage together in this 27-year-old photo. Next month, Willie Nelson will instead be celebrating his 88th birthday.

Also on the stage is Kris Kristofferson, Marty Stuart, Gary Busey, Emmylou Harris, Mark O’Connor, Don Was, and Lyle Lovett.

According to IMDb, the celebration was called “Willie Nelson: The Big Six-O.” In addition to the stars Tritt gave a shoutout to, Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, and Bill Clinton were just a few more big names at the celebration.

The Texas celebration was held at Austin’s WRLU Studios. One of the key moments of the concert was “Seven Spanish Angels.” This was a song Nelson recorded with Ray Charles in 1984.

According to Rolling Stone, the two swapped verses while singing, before eventually coming together in the chorus.

Travis Tritt New Music

Travis Tritt hasn’t released a lot of music between now and Willie Nelson’s birthday celebration. There was a large gap in work until his album “The Storm” in 2007.

However, on March 5, Tritt released his new single “Smoke In A Bar.” The song brings back a sense of early country nostalgia artists like Tritt are associated with.

“Tim [Montana] sent this to me and as soon as I heard it, it just hit all the right buttons for me. The thing I’ve heard more and more from fans and people inside the industry over the last few years is that people are hungry for the nostalgia of how the music of the nineties sounded and the general way of life in those days. Back when there didn’t seem to be so much division and confusion and uproar,” Tritt said to American Songwriter.

Willie Nelson Last Birthday

Sadly, a huge birthday bash was not in store for Nelson for his last birthday given the coronavirus pandemic. Travis Tritt didn’t make a star appearance either.

According to ABC News Radio, during his 87th birthday, Nelson had celebrated both his birthday as well as the anniversary of his 1975 album “Red Headed Stranger.” He has a total of 95 studio albums, 13 live albums, 51 compilation albums, and 41 video albums.

He re-broadcasted his 1976 “Austin City Limits” performance on his YouTube channel. It was also a fundraiser for Farm Aid, which is a nonprofit that helps family farmers. Neil Young, John Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews are all a part of the organization.
