Travis Tritt posted a throwback photo of himself and the late, great Waylon Jennings. Tritt remembered the great music artist and the friendship he shared with Jennings. Tritt also teased an appearance at the Country Music Hall of Fame event Big Night (At The Museum) on Oct 28.
In the post, Tritt wrote, “My country music history includes meeting and becoming friends with legendary artists like Waylon Jennings. I grew up listening to these legends and was blessed to learn from many of them directly as I started my career in country music. Travis Tritt Met Waylon Jennings Early in His Career
Waylon Jennings became a mentor and friend to a young Travis Tritt early in his career. Tritt has even described Jennings as a “second father” in his life. The two even performed together at the Grand Ole Opry. They sang “Where Corn Don’t Grow,” a song they separately recorded six years apart, according to Classic Country Music.
On February 13, 2002, Jennings passed away following complications from diabetes. Less than a week later, Tritt dedicated his appearance at the Grand Ole Opry to his friend and mentor, according to Country Rebel.
“I don’t have to tell you folks what the man that we lost this week meant to me,” Tritt said at the time. “Just like all of us who are here this evening, Waylon taught us a lot of lessons. And we’ve all borrowed from him at some point or another and we’ve all learned from him.”
