Country music star Travis Tritt took to social media on Thursday evening to make a quick joke regarding his birth certificate and his official state of birth.
While of course, loyal Travis Tritt fans know that the singer and songwriter was born in Georgia, Tritt has his suspicions about whether or not that is true. On Thursday, he posted his supposed conspiracy to Twitter. He says that he suspects he should have been born in Texas. Why, you ask? Well, for typical Texas reasons.
He says that due to his “independent streak” and his tendency to do things “his own way,” that he would make a natural fit as a Texan.
“Texans and especially Texas musicians have always had an independent streak that insisted on doing things their own way,” Tritt wrote on Twitter. “Sometimes, I suspect that I was actually born in Texas and my birth certificate is a lie. 😊”
It would seem as though many Travis Tritt fans are split down the middle. The country star’s tweet has gotten over 1,500 likes on Twitter, along with receiving various responses from fans. Some say that he should be proud of his Georgia roots while others say that Texas would welcome him in with open arms.
One of those Travis Tritt fans is Diana Steiner (@dlsteiner1126). “You’re GA,” she writes. “Be so proud 😊.”
Meanwhile, one local Texan responded to Tritt using all caps writing, “I KNOW YOU ARE DEARLY LOVED IN TEXAS. THEY HAVE BEEN LOYAL FANS OF YOURS SINCE THE EARLY DAYS OF YOUR CAREER PLAYING AT BILLY BOB’S AND GREUNE HALL NOT TO MENTION THE BLACK CAT LOUNGE WHERE YOU MADE TWO OF YOUR VIDEOS AND I KNOW BOTH PRESIDENTS GEORGE BUSH SR. AND JR LOVED YOU T.”
