Travis Tritt entered the country music scene in the late 1980s, but his career was set back in motion with a certain song in 2000.
Travis Tritt hit a bit of a lull in his career as we entered the turn of the century. However, it was his single “Best of Intentions” that put him back on the scene. Tritt wrote the 2000 comeback single, and it went on to hit Billboard’s Country Radio Chart at No. 1 twenty years ago today (Nov. 18).
“Best of Intentions” was Tritt’s fifth (and final) No. 1 hit. The country artist even had the idea of him starring as an inmate for the music video.
Tritt wasn’t sure if he’d get back to the height of stardom he once was at. In an interview with CMT, he states, “I wasn’t sure a couple of years ago that I would have this opportunity again…to be able to come back and have platinum albums to celebrate and No. 1 singles to celebrate and sold-out performances to celebrate, all those things, it’s truly a gift. … I truly am more appreciative of that now than I’ve ever been in my career.”
Back-Tracking Travis Tritt’s Career
Tritt garnered numerous hits for Warner Bros. in the ’90s. However, as his contract progressed, Tritt came to the realization that his records weren’t reaching retail stores regularly. Even though he charted 30 single for the label, he decided it was time to leave.
He later signed with Columbia Nashville, and that’s where he recorded “Best of Intentions,” as well as “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive” and “Love of a Woman.” The latter two singles spent multiple weeks at No. 2. The matching album reached platinum status as a matter of fact.
Tritt is back on the rise today. In January he co-starred in Hot Country Knight’s video “Pick Her Up.” Furthermore, in September he released the long-anticipated single, “Ghost Town Nation.” It seems he is also planning more tours and more new music in the near future.
