Trisha Yearwood doesn’t appear to be the jealous type. The country singer is excited rather than angry at Kelly Clarkson for “stealing” her duet with her husband Garth Brooks.

On Twitter, Yearwood wrote, “Omg @kellyclarkson you are the best at everything! You slayed Shallow! Going to my room to practice now…”

Brooks appeared on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” where he discussed his duet with Yearwood. The couple took the song, created for “A Star Is Born,” and turned it into a countrified hit.

With a little goading from Brooks, Clarkson had to try the song out for herself. Both Clarkson and Brooks sheepishly apologized to Yearwood on camera. But the results were exciting.

The duo didn’t share the same electric chemistry that Brooks and Yearwood obviously share. As husband and wife, Yearwood and Brooks’ passion shine through during their steamy duet.

But Clarkson made the song her own, singing in a different key than Yearwood. She had fans asking for her own recording of the tune.

Trisha Yearwood and a Tale of Three Songs

Clarkson’s version is the latest take on the song. Since the film released, the tune has proved to be a popular cover. But Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga‘s has had the most wide-spread appeal. As for Brooks and Trisha Yearwood’s version, fans can thank one among their own rank for the duet.

During a live-stream event, a fan suggested Brooks and Trisha Yearwood sing the tune. They quickly fell in love with the song.

“From the moment Ms. Yearwood and I first performed ‘Shallow’ we have just had so much fun with performing it, and so have the fans, that it just felt right to share this with country radio,” Brooks said previously in a statement. “Getting to sing this duet with the queen is really special and it’s a nice way to work up to the release of my album ‘Fun’ coming out next month.”

The song was included on Brooks’ album “Fun,” which released in November. But who sang the song better is up to fans to decide.
