She covered Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s Shallows single from A Star is Born with her husband, Garth Brooks, last year. Now Trisha Yearwood is revealing if Cooper has actually shared his thoughts about her and Brooks’ cover.

“I keep waiting on the phone to ring,” Trisha Yearwood explains in an interview with People. “Garth and Bradley are friends. So I’m sure they have talked, but I guess they haven’t talked about the record. I’m sure it’s not something we’re worried about.”

The song first appeared on Brooks’ album Fun. It is also one of three new tracks for Trisha Yearwood’s release of Every Girl Deluxe Edition. Yearwood’s album notably dropped right before the pandemic began.

Brooks also spoke about Lady Gaga and Cooper’s reaction to his remake during a 2020 interview with Taste of Country. “I’d love to say I’ve talked to ‘em. But no, I wouldn’t know [how they feel]. We’ve met both of them on different occasions. And they’re both very, very sweet people. Both are very talented people.

Trisha Yearwood Talks About Why She & Brooks Made Their Own “Shallows” Version

Taste of Country reported that following the release of the Shallows cover, Trisha Yearwood revealed why she and Brooks decided to do a cover in the first place.

“We saw the movie and, like, everybody else loved it,” Trisha Yearwood recalled in a Facebook Livestream video. She further explained that she and brooks didn’t watch the movie and then said they should cut the song. “It was months and months after that.”

Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks’ cover of Shallows hit number seven on the U.S. Bubbling Hot 100 Singles (Billboard), number twenty-one on U.S. Country Airplay (Billboard), and number twenty-seven of U.S. Hot Country Songs (Billboard).

Trisha Yearwood Talks Nearly Crashing Facebook With Her & Brooks’ From Home Performance in 2020

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Trisha Yearwood shared her thoughts about nearly crashing Facebook during her and Brooks’ from-home performance in April 2020. “We didn’t know until later. We were hearing that people were getting pushed off and had to log back on, but we didn’t know what was going on in the moment.”

Brooks also commented that he and Trisha Yearwood received over fifty thousand requests after the social media performance. “So I think the [next] show is going to be longer… I mean, [maybe] we’ll just do one note from each [song]!”

In regards to last year’s quarantine, Trisha Yearwood added, “I live with a guy who always sees the bright side. So, I think that he might need therapy once we get through this. But he has been a really wonderful source of strength for me.”
