If you have half a turkey, a full container of mashed potatoes, and more stuffing than you can stuff in your mouth in your fridge right now, you’re certainly not alone. Thanksgiving seems to be all about food and creating a feast worthy of being thankful for.

However, no food should go to waste and people could be thankful for their feast for days to come. With a good enough recipe, the leftovers can be transformed into something entirely new.

A Go-To Thanksgiving Leftover Meal

Country artist Trisha Yearwood, who is also a Food Network host of her own show “Trisha’s Southern Kitchen,” shares what her go-to recipe is for reinventing her leftovers the next few days.

The recipe is not one of the star’s own. Instead it is a Hellmann’s recipe.

According to Yearwood, she actually assembled it the night of Thanksgiving and will be eating it for lunch today. For those who were in a food coma most of last night and wouldn’t dare cook anything else, today or tonight is still the perfect opportunity to make this meal.

The recipe calls for 1 1/2 cup of stuffing into the bottom of a baking dish. Then on top of that is 4 cups of chopped turkey.

After that is in the dish, combine 1/4 cup of mayonnaise with equal amounts of cranberry sauce to spread over the turkey.

Another 1/2 cup of mayonnaise will be combined with two cups of mashed potatoes and a cup of shredded cheese to be placed next in the pan. Finally, another 1 1/2 cup of stuffing goes on top.

It should bake for 40 minutes. The result should be leftovers that are less dry and reimagined into a completely different meal.

Besides this casserole dish, the Food Network has countless other ideas to inspire people to not throw away any food.

There are recipes for fried stuffing balls, leftover paninis, turkey with noodles, BBQ turkey sandwiches, turkey pot pies, turkey frittatas, and even turkey tetrazzini.
