Garth Brooks will play to more than 70,000 fans at a sold-out show in Kansas City tonight, Aug. 7. But the only audience that mattered Saturday morning was his wife, Trisha Yearwood. As the couple tried to squeeze in some quality time before his tour debut.

Yearwood posted a cute photo of the couple getting coffee on Instagram.

“Gonna spend the morning with this guy as he gets ready for Kansas City. Wanna have coffee together next weekend? xo,” she captioned the post.

Kansas City is the first stop in The Garth Brooks Stadium Tour that will crisscross the country. You can see the tour dates on his website.

It’s his first tour in more than a year, but he’s already reconsidering it. That’s because coronavirus infection rates are on the rise in every state. He’ll perform in Lincoln, Nebraska, next week, then take a break and reassess the future of the tour.

The Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday said concert-goers will need to wear masks at the concert. Masks will be provided to those who don’t wear one.

Brooks said he understands that might make some people not want to go.

“I’ve always been me, right? I’m not running for president or anything, so if you don’t like what I’m saying, I totally get it,” he told KSHB. “…Just get your refund or whatever. Catch up with us hopefully down the road, if, good Lord willing, this thing passes, and we all get to tour like the old days.”

Trisha Yearwood contracted COVID-19 earlier this year. So, Brooks knows firsthand how difficult the virus can be. That’s one reason Saturday’s show will double as a vaccination event. Anyone who gets a vaccine at Arrowhead Stadium will be entered into a lottery for upgraded tickets.

Garth Brooks Posts Adoring Pic of Trisha Yearwood

Earlier this week it was Garth Brooks‘ turn to post an adoring photo of Trisha Yearwood.

The Grand Ole Opry asked Carly Pearce to join the Opry, and they asked Yearwood to induct her into their “special family.”

Both Garth Brooks and Yearwood are Opry members. However, Yearwood hadn’t inducted anyone else. But she knew Pearce and her work and was happy to be the one to that officially welcomed her into the exclusive club.

“This is not a club you can just join. This is a very special family you have to be invited into,” she said. “When they ask you to become a member, it means that they know that you get it. You’re doing something great, but you also get what came before. It is with just joy and so much pride, and I represent everybody here at the Grand Ole Opry and all your fans, to say: Carly Pearce, you are now officially a member of the Grand Ole Opry.”

Brooks was watching the ceremony from the wings of the stage. He tweeted a photo of Yearwood as she gave her speech, saying “Proudly watching my wife make history!”
