WATCH: Carrie Underwood Flies Over Crowd in a Truck Belting ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ at 2010 Show

If there’s one thing we’re all missing, it’s live shows. For Carrie Underwood fans, they especially miss the powerhouse performances.

It’s been almost a year of COVID-19 and the number of cases in the U.S. is still high. However, we’re all hopeful that 2021 will be the year that the U.S. is able to control the pandemic. With that will be the gradual return to normality.

For Carrie Underwood, the normal at her shows was the extreme. Her shows were thousands of fans, huge props, shining lights. In 2010, it may have been one of the best years for Underwood in terms of touring.

This was when she went on her “Play On Tour” starting in March. It was also the same year that she won the Touring Headline Package of the Year award at the 2010 ACA Awards. So, what is it that made Underwood’s tour the show to see?

According to Country Rebel, she kept her tour performances a secret so that fans wouldn’t know what they were going to see when they walked in that night. She had beautiful interchangable backgrounds, a duet with Randy Travis, she would even swing on long vines while performing. Her most impressive prop was when she brought the pickup truck so infamous in country music into the concert.

A visual projection showed her walking the streets of Nashville and Hollywood. As fans were distracted Underwood was getting strapped into a real blue pickup truck. This truck, however, would fly through the sky over fans’ heads. While floating through the sky she would sing the John Denver song “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”

Carrie Underwood made her 2010 show one definitely worth seeing. Hopefully when she gets on tour in the future she will surprise fans with even more miraculous props, duets, and backgrounds.

Carrie Underwood ‘Play On’

Carrie Underwood released her third studio album on November 3, 2009, which was also called “Play On.”

At the end of the year, the album was the No. 2 album in sales for a female artist. The very first single was “Cowboy Casanova.” It was one of her most popular songs during that time and peaked at No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart.

Other songs on the album include “Temporary Home,” “Undo It,” and “Mama’s Song.” At this time, Underwood’s popularity was on a meteoric rise. She had reached more than a million fans on tour and was the top-ranked female country touring artist of the year.

Carrie Underwood: New Album in 2021

Carrie Underwood plans to release the album “My Savior” in 2021. It will be a gospel cover album. If she plans a tour around this album, it may not be as extreme with floating trucks and other props.

Regardless, she has won three Entertainer of the Year awards, so when music comes back in full-strength, Underwood surely will too.
