Right after Thanksgiving wrapped, country star Carrie Underwood ushered in her “favorite time of year” with a new Instagram filter.
She debuted the new filter on her Twitter page, with a video of her lipsynching to her iconic Christmas tune, “Favorite Time of Year.” The filter plays the popular holiday hit while snowflakes fall and your face is lit up by a soft glow. You can use the filter anytime you post to your Instagram Stories or send it to friends.
“Christmas is my favorite time of year! Check out this fun, festive new #MyGift filter on Instagram featuring #FavoriteTimeOfYear. Let’s see what you got!” Carrie Underwood captioned the post.
This isn’t the first time the country star has mentioned how much she loves the Christmas season. She’s covered tons of classic tunes and released her own album last year featuring only holiday music. And earlier this week, Carrie Underwood spoke with E! News about her favorite holiday traditions.
“I think there’s a lot of things about the holiday season that bring joy but right now, my children, watching them experience some of these things for the first time is really special,” Underwood told the outlet. “Getting to play in the snow, getting to build a snowman, Santa, just getting to watch them feel the magic about Christmas is something that’s really special.”
Underwood has two sons, Isaiah and Jacob, with her husband Mike Fisher. she added that seeing the season “through their eyes” makes her feel young and magical again.
“I feel like we all grow up and sometimes the holidays can be stressful,” Carrie Underwood said. “But when you look at it through their eyes, it’s just beautiful.”
What are Some of Carrie Underwood’s Favorite Christmas Songs?
When talking with E! News earlier this week, country star Carrie Underwood also opened up about what makes it on to her “holiday playlist” every year. Unsurprisingly, the singer mentioned a few of her own hits.
“I think the Christmas country songs that should be on everyone’s playlist come from My Gift,” she joked, referencing her own Christmas album. But aside from her modern hits, Carrie Underwood likes to throw it back to the Christmas music icons.
“I love the classics especially. I think there’s definitely some new songs that always make the cut but I’m a sucker for standard, classic Christmas songs: Bing Crosby, Elvis,” Underwood shared. “When we made our version of some of those songs, we really wanted to stay true to what was so special about them and what made people fall in love with them in the first place.”
There’s just something about classic Christmas music that hits different. Especially when it comes from a crooner like Crosby or Elvis. Props to Underwood and all the modern Christmas singers who try to emulate that while sticking to their own style.
