Dan + Shay may bring more Christmas cheer to the world with new holiday music.
What Dan + Shay Had to Say
Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney spoke to media outlets backstage at the 2020 American Music Awards on Sunday (November 22).
The duo was asked if they would consider creating a Christmas album. They recently released their original holiday tune, “Take Me Home For Christmas.”
“Maybe. We’ve always wanted to do a Christmas album and fans ask for it every year,” Smyers said. “We continually let them down,” he joked. “Usually this time of year is so busy with touring. We’ve been home and had nothing but time on our hands. We kind of got into the spirit a little bit early.”
“I think we all needed to get into that spirit and have a little bit of joy and positivity in our lives,” he added. “We got those songs, they just fell out of the sky and we’re very grateful for it, but the response on it has been amazing so far. So no Christmas album recording yet but hopefully we’ll make one at some point.”

Their AMA Wins
Dan + Shay took home every award that they were nominated for. They won the coveted all-genre Collaboration of the Year for “10,000 Hours” with Justin Bieber. The duo revealed how shocked they were just to be nominated in the category. Bieber and the country duo also won Favorite Country Song for their breakout single. Additionally, they won Favorite Country Duo/Group.
Smyers and Mooney also took the stage to perform “I Should Probably Go to Bed.” They performed in the middle of the Microsoft Theater with just a piano and microphone. They were the only country group to perform at this year’s awards show. Hours before the show Darius Rucker revealed that he would duet with Katy Perry.
