Watch: Dierks Bentley Shows Off ‘Mountain Town’ Version of ‘Friday Night Lights’

Dierks Bentley is showing his fans a whole new side of sports-watching.

In a recent Instagram clip, Bentley lives the mountain-town lifestyle to its fullest. It has the potential to make both sports fans and outdoors enthusiasts envious.

Recently, Bentley and his family made the decision to move to a more remote part of Colorado earlier this year.

Bentley Lives it Up in Remote Colorado

He revealed to People that doing so was always a dream for him and this just seemed like the perfect time to make the temporary change.

“I’m making up for lost time with my family … It’s been 18 years now of touring and being gone every weekend. Now I’m somewhere I can ride bikes with my kids to school. I put a camper on the back of my 1994 Chevy and we go camping almost every weekend,” Bentley said.

Now, the country artist swapped out his cowboy boots for some ice skates. His kids skate around the small rink. Bentley has three kids. His daughters Evalyn, 12, and Jordan, 9. He also has a son Knox, 7, and their family dog, George.

Bentley scans the camera around showing the kids playing hockey. The kids are quite literally right next to the mountains, the landscape appearing in perfect detail. He eventually sits back down to a small fire next to his wife, with people and small houses in the background.

For a second, it feels eerily similar to a Hallmark movie. A remote town, beautiful views, and family spending quality time together.

Enjoying Cold Weather Sports

With colder weather finally here for many states, the season for cold weather or ice sports is back in full swing. This means the snowboard, skis, and snowshoes are all being pulled out by adventurers and Outsiders who aren’t going to let the cold weather keep them from getting outside.

When it comes to ice skating and hockey, the set-up can be fairly simple, as seen in Dierks Bentley’s recent clip. For those who have a pond on their property or near them, as long as it’s safely created, it can mean hours of fun outside.

The first thing that should be done before skating on ice is making sure its cold enough and that the ice is in fact, ice.

First of all, the temperature has to be cool enough for the water to freeze. The water freezes throughout when it reaches 39º Fahrenheit. Safe ice should have no open water and have no inlets or moving water.

Also, the ice should be blue or clear in color. Darker ice may suggest running water below that could lead to cracking ice. If you’re unsure if the ice is thick enough, take an ice chisel and create a hole to get a sense of how deep the ice is. When the ice is below three inches it is not safe for any walking or activities.
