Dolly Parton is your sweet, country Valentine.
The icon posted her Valentine’s wishes on her official Instagram account Sunday morning. The video she shared was upbeat and very Dolly positive. There also was a kiss of “I Will Always Love You.”
Dolly Parton said: “I want to say “Happy Valentine’s Day” to everybody all around the world. We need more love. We need more heart. Happy Valentine’s Day.”
And then, Parton broke into a bit of her classic song, “I Will Always Love You.” She only gave us a hint of it. But wait! Outsider will give you the entire song.
It could be a perfect Valentine’s Day song. She wrote and recorded it way back in 1973. Parton said she wrote it as a tribute to friend and mentor Porter Wagoner when she decided to leave his hit show for her solo career.
Dolly Parton Enjoyed Big Success From Song
Dolly Parton obviously made the correct call in opting for a solo career. This song, alone, established herself as a star. The song reached No. 1 on the country charts, twice. The first time was in 1974. Then, “I Will Always Love You” was released as part of the soundtrack to “Best Little Whorehouse In Texas” in 1982. And it zoomed up the country charts again.
Of course, Whitney Houston’s version became the pop singer’s signature song. She sang it for “The Bodyguard” soundtrack. In the movie, Houston was singing of her love for Kevin Costner, who has his own Valentine’s recommendations.
Dolly Parton also was full of suggestions for Valentine’s Day. She announced her new fragrance “Dolly Scent From Above” earlier this week. She was offering samples, too. The bottle is gorgeous. It’s pink and topped off by a butterfly. It also features Parton’s autographed signature. But the full-size bottles won’t go on sale until later this spring. The fragrance also likely will be available to use to scent your home.
And, if you need a Valentine, you always can send a Dolly one from American Greetings.
Dolly tweeted “Say it with words, say it with actions, say it with socially distant hugs and cards!”
So, Dolly Parton does Valentine’s Day with all the necessary holiday glitter, frills and the perfect amount of bubbly love. She’s like a vintage bottle of champagne.
And her fans loved her back on Instagram. Most responded with hearts.
One wrote: “Happy Valentine’s Day Dolly!!!! We all love you so much thank you for all the LOVE you spread!!!! Love to you always.”
