Country music star George Strait recently shared an old performance of his hit “Amarillo By Morning” on social media. He made his iconic return to Gruene Hall in Texas back in 2016.
Strait sent out a tweet on Monday afternoon.
“Four years ago today, George made his iconic return to @GrueneHallTX. Here’s #AmarilloByMorning from that night,” Strait wrote on Twitter.
“Amarillo By Morning” was one of George Strait’s first hits. And, despite a monumental career, it turned out to be one of his biggest hits. When Strait came back to perform in Gruene Hall back in 2016, the new updated version of his classic song was recorded, but the video wasn’t released until a while later.
Strait’s famous song was co-written by Terry Stafford and Paul Fraser. Further, the song was released on Strait’s 1982 album, Strait from the Heart. It rose all the way to No. 4 on the Billboard Country Chart.
George Strait Released ’22 More Hits’ 13 Years Ago
On Friday, country music fans were celebrating the 13th anniversary of the release of the 2007 George Strait CD, “22 More Hits.”
Although Strait had already released his “50 Number Ones” album, the “22 More Hits” CD was released Nov. 13, 2007. This gave fans something more than just Strait’s most popular hits.
The “22 More Hits” album is comprised of those songs that didn’t make it into the top 50 on the country charts, except for “She Let Herself Go,” which is hidden amongst the rest of the tracks on the album.
However, Strait compiles timeless pieces into the album such as “If You’re Thinking You Want A Stranger,” “Amarillo By Morning,” “The Fireman,” “Cowboys Like Us,” “You’ll Be There,” and “Marina Del Ray.”
Additionally, the CD features songs from Strait’s 1981 debut single “Unwound” to a more recent single at the time of the album’s release, “How ’bout Them Cowgirls.”
Despite not quite reaching No. 1 on country radio, the 22 fan favorites and well-known Strait hit singles still made an impression on country music fans.
