Keith Urban Goes From Australia to ‘American Idol’

Meanwhile, Urban, an Australian transplant to the United States, decided to pursue stardom in Nashville in the 1990s.

According to a biography on the country music singer, in 1999, he released a self-titled solo album.

That set the table for an impressive career that produced top-selling albums like Defying Gravity and Fuse.

It’s also led Urban to win numerous Grammy, Country Music Association, and Academy of Country Music awards.

Additionally, Urban was chosen as a judge for season 12 of the popular singing-competition show American Idol, and he remained on the program through the end of its original run in 2016.

Urban is still making music, just releasing a new song called “Speeding Ticket.”

Urban talked about some of his life’s greatest accomplishments in an interview with KFDI 101.3 during their “Country Music Minute” segment.

Marrying Nicole Kidman and getting sober are the two things he considers to be at the top of his list.

“Marrying my wife and getting sober, for me personally, were two of the biggest accomplishments of my life. That and having children,” Urban says.

Furthermore, he says it was his dream to live in America, make records, and tour.

“It’s a life dream I’ve had since I was seven years old. All I wanted to do was live in America, make records, tour, and maybe get my songs on the radio,” Urban says to the radio show host.
