Loretta Lynn and Emmy Rose Russell
She’s helped her family showcase their talents over the years. For example, her daughter Patsy is actually her manager and now works as a producer as well. She worked alongside John Carter Cash to produce her newest album, “Still Woman Enough.”
According to Country Music Nation, in 2012 Lynn let her 11-year-old granddaughter, Emmy Rose Russell, on stage to sing in the spotlight. She is the daughter of Patsy and Phillip Russell.
She sang the very popular and haunting ballad “If I Die Young” by The Band Perry.
Loretta Lynn stands off to the right of her granddaughter as she sings the slow-paced 2010 hit song. Her voice is smooth and sweet. Although it’s hard to hear her in the beginning as the crowd screams over her quiet voice.
Emmy Russell Follows in Her Grandmother’s Footsteps
Emmy Russell is actively pursuing music. She also has seven brothers and sisters that are also interested in singing. She once got the opportunity to open for popular country artist Kacey Musgraves in 2013.
Russell has gotten several opportunities to be on stage during Loretta Lynn’s concerts. One of which was a Louisville, Kentucky show from 2017.
Recently, Russell was featured on “Contagious (Remix)” by Emagem. Her voice is now fully grown. She has taken on a more pop sound than her earlier country twang voice would have suggested. It still has elements of country but is also pop and folk-influenced.
She is now in her 20s and regularly updates her Instagram account with her travels as well as her experiences as a songwriter.
Russell hasn’t produced or released her own original songs yet but has shown that she has a lot of interest in the area over the years. She also once performed a song she wrote on stage with her grandma. It was titled “Memaw’s Guitar.” It shows the love and admiration she has for her grandmother.
Lynn Family and Tragedy
Loretta Lynn has a close relationship with her family. Unfortunately, her oldest grandchild, Jeffrey Allen Lynn, passed away in 2016 unexpectedly, according to a USA Today article from that year.
Her grandchild worked on her ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. She became a grandmother in 1966 when she was 34. The ranch is considered an attraction in Tennessee. It has a recording studio, museums, and other attractions. It happens to be the spot where her oldest son, Jack Benny Lynn, drowned in 1984.
Lynn toured for nearly 50 years. However, she stopped in 2018 after medical issues like a previous stroke and a broken hip. She has been able to spend more time with her family.
