“This is the first time that just someone singing made me cry,” Bryan said in the sneak peek.
Viewers will have to tune in when the show returns on Valentine’s Day. To find out which contestant has such a powerful voice. Fellow judge Lionel Richie shared the sneak peek on his Twitter account. The singer has been busy the past few months filming the latest season of the show.
Luke Bryan Returns to ‘American Idol’
Bryan is probably excited to be back on set after a period of uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the virus, production on the show came to a screeching halt. Idol hopefuls during Season 18 had to perform without all the glitz and glam and even a live audience. Much of the show was filmed remotely creating a lower budget, grassroots feel to the latter half of the season.
It remains to be seen how the show might change in a post-COVID-19 world. Bryan probably will be keeping a little distance from fellow judges Richie and Katy Perry. But much of the heart of this iteration of the show lies within their jokes, playful attitudes, and interactions. When he’s not crying, Bryan is a known kidder.
This will be Bryan’s fourth season on the show since it was resurrected on ABC in 2018. The original run of the show ended on Fox in 2015 after slipping ratings. But the popular music competition was only gone for three years. Bryan and his judges have been a part of the show since its relaunch, sharing their advice with contestants. There’s been several laughs and tears along the way.
Ryan Seacrest and Bobby Bones will also return for the season, which airs on Feb. 14.
