Country music singer Morgan Wallen performed a live version of his hit song “This Bar” over a year before it was released to the public.

Back in 2018, Wallen performed his hit song live at a VIP experience at Rome City Brewing in Rome, Georgia. During the VIP performance, you can hear and feel the emotion that he sings with. The song is all-too-relatable for those in their early 20s.

Making mistakes and making new friends / I was growing up and nothing made sense / Learning how to live with a broken heart / I found myself in this bar,” the chorus goes. Watch Wallen perform his intimate version of “This Bar” below:

Morgan Wallen kicked off the year 2020 with the release of “This Bar.” The sentimental hit song dropped on New Year’s Eve, which was a surprise for many of his fans.

A CMA New Artist of the Year nominee, Wallen uses the New Year and his new song to reflect back on his past. The new track was co-written by himself, Ernest K, Charlie Handsome, Jackson Morgan, and his friend Hardy. In it, Wallen sings about the good and bad times and the lessons he has learned over the years while spending time in this particular bar.

“Wrote this song with my buddies about some moments and times in my life that have made me who I am today,” Wallen wrote in a tweet on New Year’s Eve. “Some good, some bad, but all of ’em I can look back on and grin a little. Hope it makes you do the same.”

Morgan Wallen Song About Personal Growth, Maturation

His first memory of the bar was on his 21st birthday. Morgan Wallen says in the song that “he got too drunk on whiskey sours.” As a result, he almost got into a fight. That exchange led to the country star receiving an escort out by the bouncer. From there, he learned how to control his temper while drinking.

Meanwhile, Wallen shares yet another story in the song. This one is about the time when he saw his ex walk inside with another guy. In a moment of growth and maturation, Wallen says this experience at the bar taught him how to cope with the breakups and how to get through the ‘moving on’ process.

“This Bar” provides a refreshing stance on what we can learn from our experiences at a bar. However, it also teaches us how to grow in life in general. The feel-good song follows the release of Wallen’s debut album If I Know Me. To date, that album has received both Gold and Platinum distinctions.
