Halloween and Thanksgiving are once again in the rear-view mirror. Now, the Christmas season is upon us once again. The days are getting shorter and shorter and the temps are dropping. However, spirits are coming up all across the country. After all, it’s a magical time of year full of love and togetherness. Today, many Americans are checking names off of their Christmas lists after a big Black Friday and Cyber Monday and are waiting to hand those gifts off to loved ones. However, The Pistol Annies already delivered their gift to the country music world.
They opened this year’s CMA Country Christmas special with an original song from their Christmas album Hell of a Holiday. That’s the kind of gift that just keeps on giving, which is fitting. The song is all about capturing the love and magic of the Christmas season and living in it all year long. Before we get much deeper, check out the video below. If you’re feeling a little bit like the Grinch, your heart might just grow a couple of sizes after seeing the Annies belt their single, “Snow Globe.”
If there is a better way to kick off the Christmas season, I can’t think of one. Hearing the Pistol Annies sing just about anything is a blessing. However, seeing the ladies together on stage again takes the holiday greatness to a whole new level.
From their performance, it’s clear that the Pistol Annies have been working hard behind the scenes. They work like a well-oiled machine throughout the entire video.
The Return of the Pistol Annies: A Christmas Miracle
It was amazing to hear that the Pistol Annies were releasing new material. Heck, I usually complain about it being “too early for Christmas music” before December. However, any excuse to hear new music from this group is good enough for me, even if it’s a collection of holiday tunes before Halloween.
The real special thing about the return of the Pistol Annies, though, is Ashley Monroe. Sure, it’s always wonderful to hear from Miranda Lambert and Angeleena Presley. However, seeing Monroe on the stage again feels like one of the best Christmas gifts a fan could receive.
Monroe told her fans that she had a rare form of blood cancer in July. In September, we learned that she was getting treatments for the disease and working on an EP of cover songs. Not long after that, The Pistol Annies announced Hell of a Holiday. So, we all knew that Monroe was healthy enough to hit the studio. However, many fans wondered if they’d get to see her on a stage again.
The ladies answered that question last night on CMA Country Christmas. Ashley Monroe looked and sounded amazing. It’s a great time to be a country music fan.
