While Elvis Presley’s charm seemed to work on millions of women, Tanya Tucker was one woman The King couldn’t have.
During an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” the country music singer revealed that despite his many attempts, she rejected his advances per her dad’s advice.
Tanya Tucker also told the show’s host, Andy Cohen, that Presley tried to kiss her, but she didn’t let it happen.
“Because my dad told me as I was leaving out the trailer that night, going to the Elvis show at the Hilton, he said, ‘Now, look here. That boy can have any girl he wants in the world. Make sure he knows he can’t have you.’ So I did. He tried to kiss me,” Tucker said.
Elvis’ Multiple Attempts to Woo Tanya Tucker
Later on, Tanya Tucker revealed that Presley tried to court her multiple times after she turned him down.
“He constantly asked me to come to Graceland, but I never did because I didn’t want to be one of the girls. I’m one of the boys,” Tucker said.
In another interview at AmericanaFest in Nashville, Tucker fondly remembered meeting the rock-n-roll icon.
“I met him and I think God just made it that way because he knew how important it was for me to meet him. There are a lot of people I really admire who I met and didn’t think too much of. But Elvis was everything,” Tucker said.
In the same interview on “Watch What Happens Live,” Tanya Tucker spoke fondly of Loretta Lynn and Willie Nelson, who were good friends with the “Delta Dawn” singer. Later, Tucker also told Cohen about her work as a guest vocalist on Dolly Parton’s 1993 song “Romeo.”
“It was so great that she would even ask me to do something. You want to collaborate with Dolly on anything,” Tucker shared. “I’ve got a lot of ideas for her.”
