Tim McGraw and Alicia Keys brought their unique voices to a classic Christmas song more than a decade ago.

Appearing on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 2009, they performed John Lennon’s “Happy Xmas: War is Over.” The performance was part of what the host called a “special holiday duet extravaganza.”

“It doesn’t get any cooler than this,” Winfrey said as she introduced the sings. “We’ve got a country music headliner and soul-filled, 12-time Grammy winner …”

The pair then blends their different genres into an uplifting cover of the anti-war anthem.

Tim McGraw and Alicia Keys weren’t the only stars performing on that November 2009 episode. Sugarland teamed up with Jennifer Hudson to perform “Silent Night.” Also, Mary J. Blige and Andrea Bocelli performed “What Child is This.”

In addition to looking back on performances of yesterday, there are many new holiday performances to enjoy. On Friday, Dan + Shay released a clip of them harmonizing surrounded by presents. They also recently released a music video for their song, “Christmas Isn’t Christmas.”

Carrie Underwood announced on Friday that her new holiday single, “Favorite Time of Year,” is now available on Amazon Music. The country music star released her holiday album, “My Gift,” in September.

CMA will host its annual Christmas special on Nov. 30. Performers scheduled to appear include McGraw, Dan + Shay, Florida Georgia Lina, Lady A, Little Big Town, Thomas Rhett, Kelsea Ballerini, Gabby Barrett, and Darius Rucker with Lindsey Stirling.

“The idea for this year’s show was to do a throwback of the great Christmas specials of the 1960s and 1970s,” EP Robert Deaton has said.

Miranda Lambert will be one of several stars who will perform in “A Home for the Holidays.” The special event benefits the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Also scheduled to perform on the Dec. 20 event are Josh Groban, Meghan Trainor, Leslie Odom Jr., and Bocelli.
