We can learn a whole lot by watching behind-the-scenes footage of the stars we love. Sometimes, we learn about their personal lives or strange habits. On the other hand, we can get a look into the personality that they show to those closest to them. I firmly believe that we get a good look at who Tim McGraw is on a day-to-day basis when the videos of him and his band, The Dancehall Doctors, surface from time to time.

If these videos are anything to go off of, Tim McGraw is a bunch of fun to hang out with. Earlier in the year, we looked at a video of him and his band in the back of a U-Haul-style truck. They were doing an impromptu cover of “I’m Just an Old Chunk of Coal.” It was a great video. They did a wonderful cover of the song. At the same time, it looked like they were having a total blast. On top of that, you could see the real chemistry between the band members. It’s a must-see.

This video is also from Tim McGraw’s 2015 Shotgun Rider tour. However, he and the band aren’t digging deep into outlaw country this time. instead, they are breaking out some sweet classic rock. Tim climbs aboard the tour bus to do a cover of Steve Miller Band’s “Rock’n Me,” before hitting the stage in Seattle, Washington.

Tim McGraw and the Guys Do Another Great Cover

The video starts out with Tim McGraw joking about avoiding the tour bus.

“Typically, the only time I come on this bus is to do this song with these guys,” McGraw says. “Otherwise, I stay away.”

His bandmates have some great reactions to this. One says, “Thank God!” Another band member adds, “Unless he’s stealing our chocolate bars.” Tim McGraw agrees. Chocolate heists and Steve Miller covers are the only things that bring him aboard the tour bus.

Another cool thing about this video is that Tim McGraw passes the vocals off to his mandolin and fiddle player Deano Brown. He says it’s because he has a sore throat and wants to save his voice for the crowd. However, he adds that Deano sings the Steve Miller cover better than him.

Tim McGraw has a great voice. However, it’s cool to see him pass along the proverbial microphone to someone else. Also, Brown does a killer job of singing the classic rock tune.

One more thing that stands out is how many instruments they have going at once on the bus. Usually, a band will have two guitarists. One will play the rhythm while the other plays the melody, or lead. However, Tim McGraw’s band has a total of four guitarists. Three of them are strumming acoustic guitars and the fourth is picking an electric. However, they all blend seamlessly together. Now, that’s a band that runs like a well-oiled machine. It takes a fair amount of talent to get the standard amount of guitars in synch but the Dancehall Doctors double it.

In short, Tim McGraw has one hell of a band and they do some killer covers.
