What Is Alan Jackson Teasing in Cryptic ‘You’ve Been Waiting’ Post?

by Emily Morgan

It’s about time we get some new Alan Jackson music, and we might be getting some. At least, that’s what his fans are hoping.

On Wednesday, the official Alan Jackson Twitter account tweeted out something that has us dying to know what the heck is going down. The post tweeted a picture of Jackson rocking his signature white cowboy hat, perfect mustache, and a ’90s brown leather jacket. In the caption, he wrote the ever-vague, “You’ve been waiting… #KeepinItCountry.”

Fans Hope for New Alan Jackson Record, Last Album Released 6 Years Ago

No criticism of Jackson, but it’s high-time we got our hand on some new music. Jackson, a veteran in the industry for 30+ years, hasn’t released a new album since 2015’s Angels and Alcohol. Fast-forward six years later, and we’re still without something new from Jackson.

Interestingly, since releasing his first major record in 1990, there’s never been more than a two-year break between studio albums. So this begs the question: why is Jackson holding out on us?

Furthermore, the 62-year-old’s cryptic photo and caption have us wondering if he’s teasing us with something. He released his latest single way back in 2017 from an unannounced record a year-and-a-half ago called “The Older I Get.”

The single, written by Adam Wright, Hailey Whitters, and Sarah Turner, was dropped just three days after Jackson’s 59th birthday. It also coincided with his official induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in October of 2017.

One month later, a video for the song was released. Even though Jackson never promoted it as an official single, “The Older I Get” was presented as the first song from a new record “coming soon,” with some estimating the release to hit in the summer of 2018.

Enter 2021, and fans are still without a new record. Now is as good a time as ever for Jackosn to hit us with whatever he’s been working on. The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly put a damper on everyone’s plans. Last summer, it halted concerts, tours, and gatherings. With the virus expected to wind up this summer, fans are eager to get back to live music. New music from Jackosn would definitely lift some spirits.

The Country Music Hall of Famer’s last tour was in 2015. That year, Jackson kicked off his 25th Anniversary Keepin’ It Country tour.

It began with a concert in Estero, FL, on January 8 at the Germane Arena. Jon Pardi & Brandy Clark appeared as special guests for most shows of the tour. It ended with a solo concert in Highland Park, IL, at the Ravinia Pavilion on August 31.
