Zac Brown Band Forced to Cancel Shows After He Comes Down With COVID-19

It’s never fun sharing this kind of news. COVID-19 just offered another blow to the world of country music. The Zac Brown Band opened August with an announcement that they were gearing up to hit the road again. Shortly after that, they also announced a career-high as the upcoming openers for a Rolling Stones show. Sadly, COVID-19 just threw a wrench into those plans. Frontman Zac Brown just took to Instagram to share the news of his contracting the illness and the difficult decision that followed to put the tour on hiatus.

Zac Brown Band ‘Deeply Disappointed’ by Positive Test Result

The Zac Brown Band now joins a growing list of musicians and bands forced to cancel their shows out of an abundance of caution for their touring crew and fans. Not too long ago two members of KISS faced a similar debacle. The 43-year-old frontman revealed this difficult decision in a long-form Instagram caption. It reads as follows:

“To all our fans,

I have made the very difficult decision to pause Zac Brown Band’s “The Comeback Tour.” Despite taking precautions, I’ve tested positive for COVID-19. I am deeply disappointed this has happened, as touring is our life and performing live for our fans is the best part of our job. The bottom line is that I want to take every precaution to put the health and safety of our fans and crew first. We will resume the tour as soon as I have finished the CDC-mandated quarantine and it is safe for our band members and crew to do so.

I am grateful to our fans for understanding this decision, as well as everyone on the front lines who can’t stay at home because their work is essential. I believe we can all overcome this together. As soon as we can, we’ll see you back out on the road again. Nothing’s better than the comeback.”

The following tour stops are affected by this cancellation: Clarkston, Michigan, on Sept. 30th; Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, on Oct. 1st; Syracuse, New York, on Oct. 2nd; and Saratoga Springs, New York, on Oct. 3rd

In the Meantime…

Even with the tour on an indefinite hiatus, fans of the Zac Brown Band still have plenty to look forward to. The album of the same namesake as the tour is still set to drop in just a couple of weeks on October 15th. Zac Brown actually took the time to explain the story behind one of its singles: “Same Boat.”

“We’re all human beings and we go through the same things. Let’s be good to each other and spread some love around,” he says. “That’s the thought that’s behind it.”
