Bubba Wallace is having a lot of fun on Twitter following the announcement that he will be joining Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin in their new NASCAR team. He’s been clapping back at haters who were quick to write him off.

After Wallace left Richard Petty Motorsports earlier this month, his detractors have enjoyed taking shots at him on Twitter or booing him at races. They were excited to say his time in NASCAR was over and good riddance.

Now that he’s secured a seat in one of the most anticipated cars of the 2021 NASCAR season, he’s replying to his haters. He posted a tweet Monday after the announcement directed at them.

“And they thought I was done after this year … Goodnight peeps.” The post features a laughing man gif.

Wallace also liked a tweet from racer Ryan Eversley. It read: “Live look at @BubbaWallace thinking about the haters.” The tweet features a gif of Leonardo DiCaprio laughing from the movie “Wolf of Wall Street.”

Some people wanted to continue this war of words in his comment section, but apparently they missed the point. Bubba Watson doesn’t care if you dislike him. He’s going to prove his worth on the track, not Twitter.

Why all the Bubba Wallace hate?

Wallace has been very open with his political views and showing his support of ongoing protests for social justice and racial equality. He was also one of the loudest voices for NASCAR to ban the Confederate flag from its races. However, his stances have led to backlash from fans and even from President Trump.

Consequently, Wallace has quickly become one of the most controversial figures in NASCAR. He’s polarizing, but he still has a very loud fan base as well.

He can laugh off the hate. After being booed Sunday, he tweeted he expected it. Then he went on to thank headphone maker Beats by Dre for helping him block out the hate.
