NASCAR Star Clint Bowyer Announces Retirement

NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer is calling it a career after a successful, 15-year run in the sport.

Bowyer, 41, took to social media to make the announcement known public Thursday evening. He already has his next job in line as he is to be an analyst for Fox Sports, according to Fox News.

In the letter, Bowyer expresses gratitude to his fans and NASCAR officials. He also voices his appreciation to his new employer for the opportunity to continue working in the industry.

“I am lucky to have the opportunity to be part of the NASCAR family, the best racing series on the planets,” he says. “For me the greatest part of it is all of the drivers. We’ll beat each other up on the track, but will do whatever we can for each other off the track. I’ve had a lot of great teammates that have pushed me to be the best that I can be.”

Bowyer Thanks Family

A 2008 Xfinity Series Champion, Bowyer has won 10 races in 15 years as a full-time Cup Series driver. He finished second in the 2012 season.

“I’ve had the opportunity to share this dream with all my family every step of the way,” he writes. “The reality is, it was all of our dreams. Mom and Dad still roll in to most every race in their motorhome just like they did when it all started when we were racing on two wheels. My brother Casey handles most of the business, and my other brother Andy is my number one fan! Having my wife Lorra, and my kids Cash and Presley at the track with me each week and sharing the sport I love means everything to me.”

Bowyer currently sits at the 11th spot in current NASCAR standings. He needs a win in Charlotte this weekend to move on to NASCAR’s playoff’s round of four, which will begin at Kansas Speedway, his home track.
