‘NCIS’ Star Brian Dietzen is ‘So Grateful’ to Bring Back Jimmy Palmer for Season 19

We don’t have to wait much longer until season 19 of NCIS is officially here. And one of the show’s star actors is just as excited as we are.

Brian Dietzen plays the role of Dr. Jimmy Palmer on the show and has done so since 2004. For the first several seasons, Dr. Palmer was more of a supporting role. But in 2012 at the start of the tenth season, Dietzen was promoted to a series regular.

Even though early on he begins as Mallard’s assistant medical examiner, in season 15 of NCIS, Dr. Palmer takes over as NCIS’ Acting Chief Medical Examiner after Ducky takes a sabbatical from the agency to teach at a New York City medical school. Further, in the episode “Bears and Cubs”, Ducky announces his official retirement from his full-time position. And in doing so, he permanently promotes Dr. Palmer to Chief Medical Examiner.

The man behind Dr. Jimmy Palmer took to Instagram on Monday afternoon to express just how excited he is for the show to be back. According to Dietzen, the first episode of the new season will premiere on Monday, September 20th at 9 p.m.

“So grateful to get to play this Jimmy Palmer fella for a 19th season!” Dietzen announced on Instagram. “Premiering September 20th at 9pm. Yes, that’s a Monday, and yes, that’s a new time slot for us too, so plan accordingly. Also, how crazy are my eyes here?!🤪”

‘NCIS’ Fans Excited for the Start of Season 19

Naturally, fans of the popular military crime show are excited for it to return this fall. Maybe even more so than Dr. Jimmy Palmer actor Brian Dietzen. And while most fans are ready for the show to be back, one fan specifically may need a little more time to prepare.

“Mr. Palmer I am not mentally prepared,” they commented on Dietzen’s post. Another fan from across the pond says, “Omg cannot wait. Hopefully not too long after in UK I need to know what happened to Gibbs.”

Even fellow NCIS co-star, Wilmer Valderrama, made his way to the comments section. He left a hilarious message for Dietzen to read.

“What are you talking about? I love this pic,” Valderrama commented. “You are our joy, with a sprinkle of stalker eyes.”

The good news is that NCIS is back for season 19. However, there is some bad news as well. Mark Harmon, who plays Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the show, may not appear in every episode. Not only that, but there will also be other cast changes due to the departures of Emily Wickersham (Special Agent Elanor “Ellie” Bishop) and Maria Bello (Special Agent Jacqueline “Jack” Sloane).
