“NCIS: Hawai’i” is set to start filming sometime next week.

The new spin-off series focuses on an all-new group of agents, investigators, and medical professionals delving into crime and mishap. It’s also all going to be done on the sandy white beaches of Hawai’i.

The show will air after the mothership series “NCIS,” which is continuing into the 19th season. Meanwhile, “NCIS: Los Angles” is also trucking along, but “NCIS: New Orleans” got the cancellation notification.

The star of the new tropical-themed “NCIS: Hawai’i” is Vanessa Lachey. She will be playing the main character, Jane Tennant. She was the first character to officially join the series.

She’s making “NCIS” history, too. Lachey is the first female lead on any “NCIS” universe show, which is a long time coming. After the announcement that she’s leading the pack of agents on her show, more cast members were added to the list. Recently, two more joined.

Two More Cast Members on ‘NCIS: Hawai’i’

According to Deadline, Tori Anderson and Kian Talan are joining the “NCIS: Hawai’i” ranks.

Anderson is recognizable for her roles in “No Tomorrow,” “Tru Calling,” “The LA Complex,” and “Killjoys.” She will be playing a character named Kate Whistler. She is an agent of the Defense Intelligence Agency.

Kate is a “go-getter.” She is trying to work her way up in her profession. However, below it all is a deeper story that viewers will learn more about. It’s a mystery that the other cast members will soon find out as well.

Anderson posted the news on Instagram and wrote, “Couldn’t be more excited to join this historic franchise AND the first female led one!! Hawai’i here I come!!”

Kian Talan is recognizable for his roles in “Brainchild,” “Shadows,” and “Cicada.”

He’s going to play one of Jane Tennant’s children on “NCIS: Hawai’i.” Talan will be Alex, the oldest, 16-year-old son. He is described as mature for his age and an overall “good kid.” However, he doesn’t always make the greatest choices and is still coping with the recent divorce of his parents.

Other exciting co-stars include Yasmine Al-Bustami and Jason Antoon. Al-Bustami is known for roles in “The Originals,” “Nashville,” and “S.W.A.T.” Jason Antoon is highly recognizable but is typically in films instead.

His past roles include “Minority Report,” “Two Weeks Notice,” “Music and Lyrics,” and “Claws.”

All-in-all, it appears that the cast of “NCIS: Hawai’i” is coming together quickly. Surely, more cast members will join the show, but IMDb only shows the five as of now.

The Show is Looking for Extras

While it appears the cast is coming together nicely, “NCIS: Hawai’i” was at one point searching for people interested in being an extra on the set of the show.

These individuals would fill in space as the show films the actors portraying their roles. It would involve chilling on the Hawaiian islands amidst an ocean breeze, sandy beaches, and clear waters.

Clearly, those extras are really going to need convincing.

According to Hawaii News Now, the casting crew is hoping to create an accurate and diverse depiction of what Hawaii is truly like.

“I’m so excited. We really want to get all, all kinds of inclusion in on this project, so of course, you know, the military, the HPD presence, but also the local community and shop owners and restaurateurs and anybody possible,” Shane Hartigan from Alessi Hartigan Casting said.
