The new trailer for NCIS: Hawai’i is jam-packed full of action.

On Thursday, September 9, CBS unveiled a new teaser for the upcoming series. CBS announced that NCIS: Hawai’i will follow the original NCIS on Monday nights at 10 PM ET.

The trailer begins with a fighter jet flying over a packed beach. It then crashes into a mountain and explodes. Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) appears coming off of a helicopter and proclaims that it is a crime scene. Viewers are transported back to learn that she was at the top of her training class and received the medal of merit three times.

The scene cuts to her holding a gun on various perps before transitioning into Jane cheering on her kid’s soccer game and mom life. At the: 40-second mark we see the NCIS: Hawai’i crew huddled around a computer. It seems as though their first case has something to do with a fallen soldier as the body of one in a casket is moved from an aircraft. We are told that the only lead that the team has is a name.

The newbie to the team, Kai, an island native asked to go do something alone. Jane replied that this is a team and they don’t do things alone. She is warned by an officer that if the team makes one wrong move that they would all be in serious trouble. In addition, Jane decides to come up with a list of high-value targets in the area. That’s when the action comes in with ATVs, a truck running into a building, and an exploding trunk.

‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ Character Details

Meet the team behind NCIS: Hawai’i! Ahead of the series premiere, executive producers Jan Nash and Christopher Silber described five of the main characters to TV Insider.

Firstly, Kai Holman has returned to the island to care for his sick father, Wally. He left his home at 18 to join the Marines but there may just be more to his exit than meets the eye. He has been described as “The Local.”

Secondly, Jesse Boone is the “right-hand man”. He is a father of three children and the person Tennant turns to and relies on. He was previously a cop in Washington D.C. that handled urban crime.

Thirdly, Lucy Tara is “the overachiever”. The Texas native attempts to show her skills and prove that she belongs there as the youngest member of the squad. Nash noted that she will be making “surprising choices when she’s trying to figure out how to do what she’s been told to do.”

Additionally, Ernie Malik is “the tech guru”. He is constantly learning new skills and even taught himself Mandarin. “Ernie has a competence to him that bleeds into everything he does,” Silber said.

Finally, NCIS: Hawai’i character Kate Whistler is a “question mark”. She is a conduit between Tennant’s squad and the Defense Intelligence Agency. “On the surface, she seems much more interested in career and protecting herself,” Silber revealed. “But she really does want to help solve crime.”
