About Vanessa Lachey’s New Book

“Life From Scratch: Family Traditions That Start With You” is a book about family and beginning new traditions. The concept comes from a personal place, stemming from Lachey’s mom leaving her when she was 9 years old.

“It was a very rocky, tumultuous childhood,” she shares with PEOPLE.

However, the actress creates her own family traditions and memories. Sharing her life with husband Nick Lachey and their three children, she hopes her book encourages readers to make their own traditions with whoever they are close with. It is a fun collection of recipes, holiday hacks, parenting advice, and personal stories. It is about turning negativity into positivity.

“You can break that cycle and be the one that starts it all. It’ll be your name that they talk about when they eat that recipe or when they do that fun dance night … there’s something really exciting and beautiful that you can create for generations to come.”

Now, the new author is soaking in the family life in their new home of Hawaii. Moving for her role on “NCIS: Hawai’i,” Lachey has no regrets. She is just happy that her family is closer than ever.

“Life From Scratch: Family Traditions That Start With You” is available at bookstores and on Amazon now.
