Lots of new characters, settings, and plotlines arise from the “NCIS” franchises this season, with the all-new premiere of “NCIS: Hawai’i.” Recently, Vanessa Lachey has spoken out on other, more dynamic aspects of the new show. Overall, she hopes to use her position as a woman of color to inspire women nationally with her character.

“NCIS” has seen several installments of its primary hit show. However, “NCIS: Hawai’i” is unique as it’s the first spin-off to feature a female Special Agent in Charge. Fans have become accustomed to Special Agent Gibbs’ quiet, authoritative, often fatherly, demeanor. However, with the premiere of the new spin-off, Lachey promises an all-new dynamic as her character, Special Agent Jane Tennant.

In correspondence with Deadline, Lachey told the outlet that “it’s time” the hit series features a female lead, and more importantly one of color… “I’m honored and humbled,” she continued.

She further emphasized the importance of not just women viewing a woman of color as “NCIS: Hawai’i” team leader. “I hope [Jane Tennant] helps normalize seeing women in this position…I want, not just little girls because I have two boys, all the littles and women, and men, and everyone, to see her and know they can do that too.”

Lachey’s casting as Jane Tennant on “NCIS: Hawai’i” is dynamic for other reasons. In addition to holding the role of Special Agent in Charge as a woman of color, she integrates complexities of professional and personal life. She is an “NCIS” boss, however, she also endures vulnerabilities. As a woman, a mom, and an NCIS agent, viewers can expect all-new storylines surrounding Special Agent Jane Tennant.

‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ Trailer Unveils an Explosive Season Premiere

Viewers continue to impatiently wait for an official introduction to Special Agent Jane Tennant. However, the “NCIS: Hawai’i” trailer reveals an explosive new show. Additionally, showrunners keep a (frustratingly) low profile surrounding the season premiere of “NCIS.” However, CBS has been pushing some major advertisements and previews for the new series.

You can check out the trailer here. However, the plot featuring in the kick-off episode is nothing like our Washington D.C. NCIS team saw early on. The very first episode premiered way back in 2003. In it, we saw Special Agent Gibbs solve several naval murders. In addition, he caught a terrorist intent on murdering the United States president.

While the episode featured its own kind of explosive introduction, “NCIS: Hawai’i” promises a series full of literal explosions. The new show’s trailer highlights a massive aerial explosion. A jet soars into the side of a lush, green mountain, immediately engulfed in flames. Later in the trailer, Tennant and her right-hand, Jesse Boone, light up an armored truck, blowing it airborne and knocking it sideways on an empty road.

While “NCIS” traditionalists prepare for the minimal appearances of beloved Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs on the hit show, Jane Tennant and her Hawai’i-based team promise an all-new team dynamic and plot progression.
