Jane Tennant is feeling sparks with Captain Joe Milius on NCIS: Hawai’i. And The Talk’s Amanda Kloots can’t help but notice that her new love interest looks a lot like Nick Lachey.

Last week on NCIS: Hawai’i, things started heating up between Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) and series newcomer Joe Milius (Enver Gjokaj).

During an interview with The Talk, Vanessa confirmed that a new romance is definitely brewing between the two. And even though the matchup is coming much earlier in the series than she expected, she’s okay with it.

“They want to include the personal stories and the lives of our agents and what makes us tick,” she told Amanda Kloots. “My character, Jane Tennant, ultimately is a single mom. She’s divorced and you know, still wants to go out and have a drink with the cute guy and have a conversation.”

Kloots was excited for the plot twist, too. But she was more excited about the actor playing Tennant’s new beau.

“I’m just gonna put it out there. The good captain looks a little like Nick. Ya know, just gonna say,” she teased.

But Vanessa Lachey doesn’t think “the good captain” looks enough like her husband. She actually wanted Nick Lachey to personally take the role on NCIS: Hawai’i so he could be her on-screen and off-screen lover. But unfortunately, he wouldn’t accept the part.

“I was like, ‘babe, do you want this role?” she told Kloots. And his response was “so cute.”

Apparently, acting gives Nick Lachey anxiety. As he told his wife, “I don’t know how to be anyone but me.”

And Vanessa was perfectly ok with his answer.

“You know what?” she said to him. “Don’t ever change that because I love you for you.”
