‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ Star Vanessa Lachey Isn’t Wasting Time Getting in Halloween Spirit with New Pumpkin Pic

by Taylor Cunningham

Halloween may look very different for Vanessa Lachey now that she’s living in paradise for her new NCIS: Hawai’i gig. But she’s celebrating just the same. And on Instagram, the mom of three posted a pic with two adorable “punkins” while promoting her new book Life From Scratch.

Even though Vanessa Lachey has been busy juggling her family and career, she still found the time to write a book. And she set to release that book next month. In an interview with PEOPLE, the NCIS: Hawai’i star said she penned the work for her daughter and all the mothers out there who want to create their traditions.

“The concept originally was just about how I’ve kind of stumbled along in life, making mistakes and learning the hard way about everything from cooking and dating to what not to wear to a wedding,” she said.

Lachey’s mother abandoned her when she was only nine. And that forced the starlet to navigate life mostly alone. Her father was a soldier who was often away. And her step-mom wasn’t interested in being a mother figure.

“Instead of constantly saying, ‘I don’t have a mom to show me how to do my makeup, what not to wear, how to be a good wife or a good mom,’ I said, ‘You know what? I can start that for my daughter and be that positive influence,” she told the publication.

Lachey’s relationship with her stepmom was strained until the NCIS: Hawai’i actress started a family of her own. And now, Lachey has grown close to her. Her stepmother transformed into a loving grandparent. The change taught Lachey that “it’s never too late to start with whatever destiny you want to create.” And with that sentiment, Vanessa Lachey penned Life From Scratch.

‘NCIS: Hawai’i Star Vanessa Lachey Teases About Halloween Traditions in Her New Book

With Vanessa Lachey’s book debuting in November, she took a break from NCIS: Hawai’i to promote her work on Instagram. In a photo, the actress shows off two adorably painted pumpkins alongside her own beautiful smile.

“Hey, Punkin’s! It’s October 1st and I’m READY!!!” she captioned. “Fall is my FAVORITE time of the year and it’s also when I officially started my traditions with Nick. I can’t wait for you to read about them in #LifeFromScratchBook. Link in Bio! It’s out next month!”

In between the covers of Life From Scratch, Lachey will teach families how to start their own traditions. She organized the book by season, and she gives her readers fun ideas for each time of year.

“It’s what we’ve done in the Lachey household,” she told PEOPLE. “But I just hope it inspires people to create their own memories and traditions with their family or chosen family.”
