Fans really do miss Nell on NCIS: Los Angeles. And Renee Felice Smith, who left the show earlier this year, wants everyone to know she’s still around.

That’s why Smith shared a beautiful, wistful image of herself on her Instagram page. The selfie, with its black and white screen, looked like a piece of sketch art. She was wearing her trademark hat. And she captioned it: “still here.”

As fans of NCIS: Los Angeles are well aware, Smith left the show after the season 12 finale. Her character was responsible for intelligence analysis. And she turned down the chance to be boss of the special operations office. She knew she could never live up to Hetty’s standards.

Plus, she wanted to be happy, which is why Nell and Eric (Barrett Foa) left NCIS: Los Angeles to open a security office in Tokyo. Maybe they’ll be back for another visit, someday. The door was left open.

Meanwhile, the women back at the NCIS: Los Angeles office had themselves a fun, eventful episode Sunday night. In Indentured, both Kensi (Daniele Ruah) and Fatima (Medalion Rahimi) went undercover as drug addicts at a posh rehab place in Malibu. Fatima let down her hair and started a fight with Mia, the girlfriend of Lukas, the German gunrunner. She’d already had words with Kensi during a big therapy session.

Then Kensi picked a fake fight with Fatima, complete with fake blood. But, the fakeness of it all was convincing.

The point was to earn Mia’s trust. Kensi learned that Mia’s boyfriend abused her. When she and Mia sneaked out of rehab, it was Mia who probably poisoned her boyfriend, killing him.

Fatima is doing more in-office intelligence work on NCIS: Los Angeles because Nell no longer is there. So maybe if Nell had stayed, she could’ve pretended to be addicted to oxycontin and picked a fake fight with Kensi. Or maybe not. Kensi was certainly believable. And Fatima admitted that she wished she’d been able to get a dear friend into rehab.

The NCIS: Los Angeles episode was all about a bunch of German gun runners who were selling AK47s to a retired general. The ATF had been investigating the gun runners. But the Germans killed seven agents.

Meanwhile, the general turned out to be a friend of Kilbride’s (Gerald McRaney). And the general also was involved with a right-wing militia in Arizona. He wanted to give 200 weapons to them as gifts. The general was planning a Senate run. What better way to launch it than arming an in-state militia?

But at the end of the episode, Kilbride busted the general. Then he poured some high-end Scotch for Sam (LL Cool J) and Callen (Chris O’Donnell) to celebrate the bust. And, they all toasted to Kilbride becoming the permanent boss.
