‘NCIS’ Star Eric Christian Olsen Admits Fatherhood Has Turned Him Into a ‘Softie’
In a 2020 interview with People, Eric Christian Olsen reveals how fatherhood has made him into a “softie.” While speaking about his first son, Wyatt Oliver, who was born in August 2013, the NCIS star admits, “I’m such a sucker for that kid when he smiles. He squints his eyes and he gets this big gummy smile, it’s just emotions I didn’t know I had.”
Eric also talks about his NCIS co-stars, Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J, being his dad role models. “Chris and LL always talk about [being dads],” Eric says and explains that O’Donnell has given him schedule advice. “You try to get a schedule with naps, with a bath every night, you read to them every night, you try to get into that type of pattern. This world is all new to them.” Eric and his wife were married in 2011 and have three children, Wyatt, Esmé, and their youngest Winter, who was born in September 2020.
Is Eric Christian Olsen Leaving the Show Anytime Soon?
Last winter, rumors began to circulate about Eric Christian Olsen leaving NCIS: Los Angeles. Eric has been on the show since 2010 and plays Marty Deeks, who was an LAPD-NCIS Liaison Officer assigned to the Office of Special Projects (OSP). However, in the recent season, the LAPD-NCIS Liason position was officially terminated, making Deeks no longer a member of the OSP Team. This move left fans to ask if Olsen was departing from the show.
Daniela Ruah discussed the rumors about Eric leaving NCIS: Los Angeles with TV Line. “Listen, if Eric were leaving the show permanently, we would know about that by now,” she states. “And that’s obviously not the case. So, somewhere and somehow, things happen that change the course of where the story is going.”
NCIS: Los Angeles is set to return for its 13th season this fall, along with NCIS and the franchise’s new spin-off NCIS: Hawai’i.
