Recently, fans have been mourning the loss of a beloved part of the “NCIS: Los Angeles” family.
Ravil Isyanov appeared in the series as the Russian mobster Anatoli Kirkin. He made appearances on the show in seasons 4, 7, 9, and 10. He was known for his common ability to either help or double-cross the “NCIS” team.
Ravil Isyanov Passed Away
Sadly, the Moscow-born actor passed away on September 29 at his home in Los Angeles after battling a longtime illness. He was only 59 when he passed away.
“Even while battling this awful disease, Ravil remained brave and resilient, bringing his best to the set and working up to the very end. He will be dearly missed,” Isyanov’s manager, Frederick Levy, said in a statement, according to Entertainment Weekly.
In addition to his role on “NCIS: Los Angeles,” you may also recognize Isyanov from his roles in “GLOW,” “The Americans,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “The Mentalist,” “Alias,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” and “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.” He worked right up until he passed away and had an overall steady role in the industry all throughout his life.
He has projects that are currently in post-production that fans of his can soon watch. He was in “Blonde,” which is the biographical drama about Marilyn Monroe. Isyanov plays the director Billy Wilder in the movie. He’s also in “25 Cents Per Minute.”
According to TV Insider, Isyanov was born in Voskresensk, Russia in 1962. He got into the entertainment world when he studied directing at the Perm Institute of Culture. He had to take a brief break from the acting world when he left for mandatory military service in the Soviet Air Force.
Ravil Isyanov and ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’
Ravil Isyanov was a popular character over on “NCIS: Los Angeles.” Since learning of his death, fans have been mourning the popular actor.
One person tweeted, “This makes me so sad! Kirkin was one of my favorites on #NCISLA! Rest in Peace Ravil Isyanov!” Someone else said he was “was one of those guys whose face you knew before his name.” This meaning he was so recognizable for his variety of TV and movie roles.
Others said he was “brilliant” as Kirkin and they were sad that he passed away. Kirkin was killed off on “NCIS: Los Angeles” as well.
Many adored his performance, especially alongside Deeks. He always had a particular interest in Deeks during his time on the show. His fascination with Deeks is something Kensi would tease her husband about.
Unfortunately, Kirkin was shot in the chest in season 12 during a mission gone wrong. He then tries to leave Deeks part of his mobster world business. He wants him to handle the fashion line, money laundering, all the cars, and the smuggling. Deeks is a federal agent, however.
