While he may appreciate and support all his castmates of the hit series NCIS: Los Angeles, Eric Christian Olsen reveals his admiration for his castmate and sister-in-law, Daniela Ruah.
During a 2014 interview with TV Fanatic, Eric Christian Olsen discusses how actors are always “itching” to play in certain scenes.
“I think the beauty of a show like ours is unlike the family dramas,” Olsen said. “The backbone of the show is because we inherently a show about NCIS and about all these crimes, you maybe get these juicy moments that are about characters.”
Eric Christian Olsen then says Daniela Ruah is phenomenal with her NCIS role.
“I think one of the most powerful tools in her toolbox is the art of self-preservation and she uses that a lot when things get too painful or too emotional. To deal with kind of thinking step by step is learning how to navigate those with her and there’s a really amazing scene that capitalizes on that.”
Daniela Ruah Talks Working Relationship With NCIS Co-Star Eric Christian Olsen
At a 2017 London Comic Con panel, Daniel Ruah discussed her working relationship with her NCIS co-star and brother-in-law, Eric Christian Olsen.
“I think Eric and I have been working together [for] so long at this point that we both go in the same direction because we know each other’s style,” Ruah explains.
David Olsen, the older brother and stunt double of Eric Christian Olsen, is Daniela Ruah’s husband. David and Daniela met on the set of NCIS: Los Angles. She and Eric have been working on the set of the hit series since Eric signed on in 2010.
Daniela Ruah Admits Kissing Eric Christian Olsen is Pretty Weird
Also during an interview on The Queen Latifah Show in 2015, Daniela states that kissing her NCIS co-star and brother-in-law is absolutely weird. “The obvious answer would be yes [that it’s weird to kiss Eric],” Ruah explains.
However, the NCIS: Los Angeles star does say that both she and Eric are very invested in their characters. They are also love knowing that the audience has been following their characters. So they’re “happy” with what’s happening on the show.
“We’re kind of trying to stay faithful to that more than anything else,” Daniela notes. “Dave is in the business, and Eric’s wife is an actress, she’s in the business. And I think everybody knows what that feels like.” Olsen himself has reassured everyone that his brother Dave does not have a problem with the kissing scenes. “[Dave] does stunts on our show along with a bunch of other shows. He gets it; he understands that this is a job.”
NCIS: Los Angeles completed its 12th season in May. The show was renewed by CBS in April along with NCIS. Starring in the crime action-drama series with Ruah and Olsen are Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J. NCIS: Los Angeles, as well as NCIS, are set to premiere their new seasons this fall. NCIS: Hawai’i is also set to premiere its first season as well.
