One NCIS: Los Angeles star explained just what it took to get her character to overcome a natural urge to isolate herself. All of the characters in NCIS: Los Angeles have grown a lot since they started on the show, but that’s especially true for Kensi Blye.

NCIS: Los Angeles actress Daniela Ruah detailed how Kensi Blye had to go through a lot to become the person she is now.

“She grew up around many different bases, so the people that mean a lot to her have added up over the years. It’s not just her best girlfriends; it’s people in her work environment, people who were part of her upbringing,” she explained to Parade in 2018. But the NCIS: Los Angeles actress said that things could have easily gone a different way for Kensi.

Daniela Ruah Find’s Kensi’s Growth Interesting

“It’s actually really quite interesting that they have made her that person because she ran away from home at such a young age when her father died, and she was a loner. We know that she lived on the streets for a little while, so it’s interesting to me that rather than become a loner in her personal life, she’s actually hung on to as many people as she could, which says a lot about her.”

Now, Kensi is in quite a healthy relationship with her husband Marty Deeks. The two are even trying to grow their family and have a child but faced difficulties in season 12. Season 13 will likely see the couple try to adopt.

Ruah stars in the series alongside Eric Christian Olsen, Linda Hunt, LL Cool J, and Chris O’Donnel. Gerald McRaney, who plays Horace Killbride, will also be joining the cast full time.

Ruah and the rest of the cast will start filming in just a couple of days, with Eric Olsen especially expressing excitement for returning to set.

Olsen doesn’t just play Ruah’s husband on the show, he’s actually connected to her in real life as well. Ruah is married to Eric Olsen’s brother, making him her brother-in-law.

Eric Olsen has a Favorite Type of ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Episode

In a 2014 interview, Eric Olsen once revealed his favorite type of NCIS: Los Angeles episode. Olsen likes complex plots that don’t follow a simple A storyline and B storyline.

“My favorite kind of version of storytelling for our show, which is that there’s, instead of an A story and a B story, there are about four stories,” he told TV Fanatic. The actor seems to work well when there’s a lot going on and a lot to cover. Those kinds of episodes certainly keep fans on their toes as well.

There’ll likely be an episode or two like that in season 13. CBS recently revealed that NCIS: Los Angeles will return on October 10th. Until then, fans can likely expect plenty of updates from the cast as they film the upcoming season.
