‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Stars Mark Episode One of Upcoming Season ‘In the Can’ With Behind-the-Scenes Snap

It’s a wrap. Episode one of the new season of NCIS: Los Angeles is in the books.

That morsel of NCIS: Los Angeles goodness is courtesy of Caleb Castille, who plays FBI agent Devin Roundtree. Castille posted a photo of himself and LL Cool J (that’s Sam Hanna to NCIS fans) to celebrate the successful close of the first episode of the 13th season.

Castille wrote: “They wanna kno how it feels to be a part of the best show in the world?? Just swipe left! Episode 1 in the can! – everyone’s focused and determined to make szn 13 the best yet! #ncislosangeles #samhanna #devinrountree #itfeelslarge

NCIS: Los Angeles Already Dropped Some First Episode Details

An NCIS: Los Angeles showrunner, with the help of Eric Christian Olsen, aka Marty Deeks, already dropped some hints about the very first scene. We’re assuming season 13 is going to be lucky, at least for the fans, based on this clue.

The official NCIS: Los Angeles Twitter account posted an interview with Olsen and a showrunner. In that video, Olsen tells everyone where he is on set.

“We’re here in visual effects,” Olsen said, then asks the showrunner “Tell us more about your first scene.”

The NCIS: Los Angeles creator said, “Oh my god! You’re going to love it, but I can’t say. … It’s going to be stormy. A dark and stormy night.”

Oh, please, tell us more. Olsen prods his fellow NCIS: Los Angeles guy. “There’s chaos,” he says. “Things explode.”

Then Olsen adds a wish: “Deeks comes in shirtless. Tell us more!”

Season Premiere is Set for Oct. 10

But that’s where the details stop. The 13th season of NCIS: Los Angeles premieres, Oct. 10. It stays in its normal Sunday night spot. However, NCIS moves to Monday nights after dominating its Tuesday time slot for 18 seasons. CBS moved NCIS so it could be the lead-in for new franchise NCIS: Hawai’i.

Meanwhile, Castille is headed into only his 22nd episode with the show. He was promoted to full-time to start season 12. Starting in season 13, he won’t be the new guy in the full-time cast.

Two major NCIS: Los Angeles characters left the show in the season 12 finale. Barrett Foa (Eric Beale) and Renee Felice Smith (Nell Jones) both exited. And their characters left together, driving off in Eric’s fancy new sports car. Writers have them moving to Tokyo to start their own security firm.

So Gerald McRaney was promoted to full-time cast. He had a recurring role as Admiral Kilbride. On the show, he’s sarcastic, intimidating and a bit of a grouch.

Plus, NCIS: Los Angeles will get a character back. Linda Hunt, as Hetty, should be more involved. Hunt, at 76, had to take extra precautions because of the Covid-19 pandemic. She did all her scenes from her home or driveway, with the show explaining she was in an undisclosed war zone. Hunt came back to the set for the finale. That’s when Hunt, as Hetty, gave her blessing for Nell to move on with her career.

Stay tuned!
