While “NCIS” and rookie series “NCIS: Hawai’i” have been lighting up Monday nights for a few weeks, fans are still waiting for the third show in the series to premiere.
“NCIS: Los Angeles” is gearing up for season 13. The show will air on CBS starting this Sunday, October 10 at 8 p.m. CT.
The official Twitter account for the show is looking to get fans hyped for the upcoming series premiere. They shared an image from the upcoming episode and captioned it, “Hang tight, besties — we’re whipping up something good — An all-NEW season of #NCISLA premieres this Sunday.”
Fans will have to wait until Sunday to figure out exactly what’s going to go down during that first episode. In the meantime, “NCIS: Los Angeles” did release a sneak peek of what to expect.
The new episode is titled “Subject 17.” The series premiere will feature Retired Admiral Hollace Kilbride, played by Gerald McRaney, starting his series regular appearance.
His character will learn that Hetty (played by Linda Hunt) plans to return to Syria. This is where Hetty spent the majority of last season there and left things in a state of disarray.
“We’re going to find out early on that Hetty created quite a mess overseas and she has to go and try to fix that — against [Kilbride’s] best judgement … [Kilbride] thinks that these are her misfits [working at NCIS], so she should be the one to wrangle them,” the “NCIS: Los Angeles” showrunner R. Scott Gemmill told TVLine regarding the series opener.
Although Kilbride advises against it, Hetty will eventually be allowed to go clean up the mess.
Drama over on ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’
Elsewhere, expect a lot of internal drama to happen over on “NCIS: Los Angeles” this season. Callen will learn that Hetty may have some more connections to his life than he previously thought. Hetty will try to steer him clear of this past information.
“Callen (Chris O’Donnell) finds something that will definitely change his relationship, at least for the time being, with someone very close to him,” Gemmill teased. You may remember that Callen found some secret files hanging around “NCIS: Los Angeles” last season.
Meanwhile, Joelle (played by guest star Elizabeth Bogush) will also make an appearance as she works to capture Katya, who we met last season. Fan-favorite couple Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) are looking to grow the family beyond two.
We learned last season, however, that it may be far more complicated than the couple is anticipating.
“They just want a little kid to love,” Daniela Ruah said regarding her character and her relationship. The family has had to cope with infertility but may now start the adoption process. The “NCIS: Los Angeles” producers have talked to specialists to get a full understanding of the realities of the adoption process.
